What is a CFD?
A contract for difference is an agreement to exchange the change in an asset's price between the moment you open a position and the moment you close it. You can take a position on a price rising or falling, and because CFDs are traded on margin, gains and losses are both magnified.
See: Risk disclosure
Do I own the underlying asset when I trade a CFD?
No. A CFD on a share, an index or gold gives you exposure to its price, not ownership of the asset itself. You receive no voting rights and take delivery of nothing.
Is the information on this website investment advice?
No. Market information and educational material on this website are general. They do not take your objectives or circumstances into account and are not a recommendation to trade. If you are unsure whether trading suits you, seek independent advice.
See: Risk disclosure
Can I use automated trading strategies on MetaTrader 5?
MetaTrader 5 supports automated strategies called Expert Advisors. Check the rules and restrictions for your account before using one. An automated strategy can lose money and requires monitoring.

What spreads does Arrow Trade charge?
The spread is the difference between the buying and selling prices. Check the current prices in your trading platform and review the charges for your account. Spreads can change with market conditions.
See: Spreads and fees
What leverage is available?
Check the leverage and margin requirements that apply to your own account and instrument. Leverage increases exposure and magnifies losses as well as gains. Contact the team if you need help understanding the terms.

Check whether your account charges commission separately from the spread, when it applies and how it is calculated. Ask the team to explain the costs before placing an order.
See: Spreads and fees
What is a swap, or overnight financing?
Holding a position past the daily rollover may create a financing charge or credit. Check the instrument and account terms for the rate, calculation, unit and rollover days before holding a position overnight.
See: Spreads and fees
How are orders executed?
The execution guide explains order types, slippage and price gaps. Read the execution terms provided for your own account and contact the team if an order or instruction is unclear.
See: Execution
When can I trade each instrument?
Check the trading sessions, breaks and holiday schedule for your instrument in the platform and account terms. Contact the team if a session or market closure is unclear.

A margin call or automatic close-out may occur when equity falls below the applicable requirement. Check your account’s thresholds and how positions may be closed; do not rely on receiving a warning in time to add funds.
