Security of funds
Understand the questions to ask about client money and account protections. Read the terms that apply to your own account before funding it.
Segregation of client money
Segregation means client money is held in bank accounts kept separate from the firm's own money, so that it is not used to run the business and can be identified if the firm fails.
Check the client-money provisions in your account agreement. Ask the team to explain the arrangements and jurisdiction that apply to your account.
Negative balance protection
Negative balance protection means a client cannot lose more than the money in their trading account: if a sharp market move takes the balance below zero, the firm resets it to zero.
Check whether your account terms include this protection and any conditions or exclusions. Do not assume it applies because an account uses leverage.
How withdrawals are authorised
Use Withdraw from the client portal’s Dashboard to submit a request. Review Transactions and contact support for an update or clarification. Submitting a request does not mean it has been approved or paid.
Identity checks and anti-money-laundering
Identity and source-of-funds checks protect clients as well as the firm: they make it harder for anyone other than the account holder to move money out of an account. The policy is published in the legal section.
Compensation schemes
Investor compensation arrangements vary by jurisdiction and client eligibility. Check your account agreement and ask the team whether any scheme applies to your account and what its limits are.
