Understanding contract specifications
Read an instrument’s specification together with your account terms. Symbols that look similar can have different contract details.
Contract size and volume
Contract size tells you how much of the underlying exposure one lot represents. The volume you enter determines how many lots you trade. Check the permitted minimum volume and volume step before sending an order.
Price movements and currency
Tick size is the smallest price increment. Tick value describes its monetary effect for the stated contract size. Check the profit currency and any conversion into your account currency.
Trading sessions
Check opening hours, daily breaks, holidays and any expiry or rollover conditions for the instrument. Market closures can prevent you from opening or closing a position and can be followed by price gaps.
Before placing an order
Review the specification available in your trading platform and the terms for your account. Contact the team if a symbol, calculation or trading session is unclear.
